Finding my cabinet

Hello!

Long time reader, first time poster.

The line checker has indicated that I can place an order on the 30th of this month, I'm hopeful. It seems as though if the date was going to be moved it probably would have been by now.

But I've been generally quite surprised at the lack of a shiney new cabinet in what is a fairly small village. Is there any information in the public domain that'd show me where this new cabinet is going to be, or has been installed?

It's an odd question, I know. But I'd feel a bit better about getting suitably excited at the prospect of getting something resembling quick broadband in my area if I could see the cabinet with my own eyes!

Any help very much appreciated.

Rob

Re: Finding my cabinet

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NEBA confirmed your exchange.

NEBA BISHOP AUCKLAND DL150LJ {NEBA}{p45} 0 100 -0.17 7a Yes FTTC

Your Postcode is served by (Primary Connection point pcp) green cabinet 45

http://www.openreach-communications.co.uk/superfast/where-and-when/

The Openreach document is showing in the coming soon section.-

BISHOP AUCKLAND NEBA FTTC Wear Valley District Sep-11

There used to be a site that gave the approx position of Cabinets but it's password protected now and outsiders can't get on.

So it's a walk or ride around looking for them. NOTE it's only the small original green cabinet that has a number on it.

The new fibre cabinets have cooling vents/grills and if the are powered up you can hear the internal fans running.... which is a good sign for Ininity availability.... coming soon!!!!!

Re: Finding my cabinet

Hi,

Have you tried using google maps "street view" to try and track your cabinet down - might be better than walking the streets!

Michael.

Re: Finding my cabinet

Thanks for all the information, chaps!

I was hoping there'd be a nice cabinet map somewhere, but alas no! I think a good old fashioned drive around is in order. If the checker is telling me I can order at the end of the month I should really see a cabinet by now, shouldn't I?

My fibre progress was.-

Dec 2010 I spoke to the Openreach engineers putting the cables in in my towns high street.... they said everything was going according to plan.

April Fibre Cabinet installed next to my smaller PCP cabinet.

May various visits from Openreach wiring up and powering up.

The BT wholesale and Infinity website checkers initially showed.-

March 2011 this changed shortly after Christmas to

July 1 then in June it changed to

June 30th then in mid June it changed to

June 22nd then as this date drew near it suddenly changed to

Sept 30th 2011

Then on 1st July the Checkers showed it was available.

On the 4th July BT phoned me.... Only offered me the Infinity package with Unlimited and Anytime calls.

This was also the only package available to me if I ordered thru the BT Infinity checker website.

On the 7th July I phoned sales and ordered the Infinity option 1 with 40GB cap and Weekend calls.

And added an uplift for Anytime UK landline calls.

15th July Infinity installed.  :smileyhappy:

Sorry to stray from the thread.

Re: Finding my cabinet

Michael, I must be around the corner from you, only about half a mile from the top of Bread and Cheese Hill

Uploads have been okay, well the speedtesters show as okay.
