Had this problem Christmas 2012. I was furious.

There's a command "flush DNS" which you can find on Google. Ooops your browser doesn't work! If you do find it, t's worth a try.

Oddly, the only way I could fix it was to plug in a USB wireless adaptor, using that for wireless and disabling the PC's wireless. I don't know why, but somehow it changed the ip address.

The problem went away after a week, after rechecking the PC's own wireless connection.

Thanks Ribblelancs. I'll look it up. Meanwhile:

BTcare keeps saying:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to community.bt.com. SSL received a record with an incorrect Message Authentication Code. (Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_read)

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem.

IE says:

Firefox says:

Re: Browser connection problems

Ribblelancs, this is a desktop connected by ethernet cable to the Hub, so it's not a wireless issue.

Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Have you deleted your shortcut to BT Community, and created a new one?

Out of habit, I don't have one. Only a shortcut to bt.com.

No, but I've been accessing BTCare via Google as well. It makes no difference. Other sites show the same symptoms. Flushed the dns cache.

Next step is to plug a laptop into the ethernet port of the Hub and see what happens.

Not stupid! But I don't think that's relevant. I've tried accessing via Google search. Same symptoms, and on many diferent sites, like that Pi one above.

Flushed DNS.

Next step is to connect a laptop to the Hub by ethernet. That should determine if the fault is in the desktop or the Hub.

Hmm... all working normally right now. Of its own accord. All I did was nip out to the local shops for some fresh air to cool down the frustration that this has caused.
