Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

I ll do the wireless later.

If it s ok I d like to change the following:

The Hub IP address: to 192.168.1.254

 DHCP Address: to Start - 192.168.1.64 - - - - - End - 192.168.1.237

so I can switch between the routers quickly if I need to.

- - -

also when I set up the netgear I had to use bthomehub@btinternet.com for it to work with BT , or so I thought, is  that not necessary for this one?

or when you say to use username and email address do you mean the primary BT one , or just any?

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

You can change quickly (without a modem reset) if you clone the HH MAC addy. However your router is now issueing IP addys in the 192.168.1.x range as that is it's default.

I forgot t tell you about that!

bthomehub@btinternet.com didn't work for me on my Belkin  but my primary BT email addy and password did. The choice is yours.

You haven't mentioned if it is up and running now.

As regards the other settings, you now have a multitude!Smiley Very Happy

I'm off out now, be back later.

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

No I ve not connected the dlink yet and forgive me for my slow responses but as soon as the firmware was flashed

I was faced with tons of settings and that is slowing me down as it is all new to me.

Is the HH mac address found in the "Wireless>configuration" section of the HH2 webpage?

how do I clone it?

I ll try the bthomehub@btinternet.com first then my primary BT mail and pass, after that I ll swear at it.

I m trying to do all that I can to set it up before I do the swap cause if anything goes wrong at that moment i ll lose

connection and I wont be able to bother you about it untill I swap again 🙂

I want to thank you for all the help and I will post back to let you know how it goes.

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

You can forget about most of the settings for now. Just do the main ones as described and set the wireless up.

I don't know anything about the HH3, I don't use it but someone else may tell you how to find the MAC addy.

All you do then is enter it in the clone MAC option in your router.

You got too many options now? Just stick with the defaults if need be.

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

Well I think I am all done, I ve connected and with exception of the wireless which I ve not tried I am online and it appears to be running ok.

But, when I check with speedtest.net I get results way lower than I do with the BT HH2, very much like what was happening with the netgear that I tried last week. - - - http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/Can-somebody-help-me-to-setup-a-Netgear-WGR614v9/m-p/291363#M...

Maybe something I m doing wrong though I have no idea of what that might be.

- - -

I have had to use my email and password just as you said bthomehub@btinternet.com did not work.

BB for now.

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

A bit better now, but upload still about half the speed.

I don't understand why this change in speed occurs when I use a router that is not the HH2 ?

It has happened with both the netgear and the DLink.

Is there something I could have done wrong?

Or, is it just a coincidence that whenever I get the lower results I happen to be using the Dlink615 or the WGR614 and the actual speed drop is more to do with what is discussed in these threads:

BT-UK-Problem

Very Weird Speed Issue

This is what I get if I take a trip to mainland Europe:

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

Try a pathping to bbc.co.uk, it takes several mins to run but leave it to complete. It will show up any routing issue.

Copy and paste the results here.

Re: Flash D-Link DIR-615-D4 with DD-WRT firmware.

There's nothing wrong there.

I've just notced you used the Maidenhead server. Try the London (Namesco) one.
