Forced to pay £35

Hello

 I was all set to move over to BT from Virgin but something is annoying me!

I want to have 2 boxes for recording on and am prepared to pay the extra £5 per month and the £99 for the extra box. However BT are insisting that an engineer needs to come and install the second box at a cost of £35 because it needs to be connected to my router.

They seem perfectly happy for me to connect my first box myself but insist on an engineer visit if I want two boxes. I really don't want a stranger laying a cable from my router to my bedroom when I am perfectly capable of making the connection myself and I don't want to waste £35.

Does anyone know why they insist on this? Is there anyway around it?

Hi Ian,

Sounds a bit off to me, you sshould have the option to install yourself.  I would say give a mod a shout!!
