Frequent and random ADSL line drop / resync with Homehub v2.0 Type "A"

Go to solution

I am getting frequent and random ADSL line drop / resync, the router stays up, just the ADSL goes down then back up. This has only started since I moved from a v1.5 to v2.0 hub. The External IP stays the same but of cause the Profile drops so does the speed as it won,t stay up for more than a day (Sometimes only hours).

I have tried  a quiet line test,   Dial 17070 option 2, no problems with this.

So it all seems to be down to the v2.0 Type “A” hub with firmware 8.1.H.J

ADSL line status

Connection information

Line state Connected

Connection time 0 days, 0:13:39

Downstream 8,128 Kbps

Upstream 448 Kbps

ADSL settings

VPI/VCI 0/38

Type PPPoA

Modulation ITU-T G.992.1

Latency type Interleaved

Noise margin (Down/Up) 5.6 dB / 19.0 dB

Line attenuation (Down/Up) 35.0 dB / 20.0 dB

Output power (Down/Up) 19.8 dBm / 12.1 dBm

Loss of Framing (Local) 0

Loss of Signal (Local) 3

Loss of Power (Local) 0

FEC Errors (Down/Up) 769 / 0

CRC Errors (Down/Up) 1 / 2147480000

HEC Errors (Down/Up) nil / 0

Error Seconds (Local) 17

Anybody got any thoughts, I see lots of people seem to have the same problems. I may just go back to the v1.5 hub and forget the “N” WiFi.

Ok, well its has continued to drop the ADSL line (Stayed up for almost 2 days!!!!) so its back to the v1.5 Hub

DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime: 0 days, 2:24:16
Modulation: G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 7,808
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 9.23 / 219.09
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.5 / 37.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 6.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 27,494
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 7
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 5
Line Profile: Interleaved

Lets see if this can hold the ADSL line it always did, so its back to old faithful, this new Hub 2.0 Type "A" needs a better firmware, BT are you listening...Maybe when the next firmware comes out I may reconnect it but not until then......

Could it be the Noise Margin as it seems very low?

Re: Frequent and random ADSL line drop / resync with Homehub v2.0 Type "A"

So the story goes on, I have had 4 visits from BT engineers now, the last one has changed my cable from the Green road box to the exchange, I have replaced all the cables, ADSL filters, Router (another 2.0 Type "A") Hub phone etc.

But still it drops the ADSL line at 12pm ish every night????? The hub does not reset but it just does a resync, but the speed to the exchange is still low and so is the IP profile as it just wont keep the line up???

Not had the new hub long enough to see if it has random resets in the day....time will tell.

Just one point to note, the chap from the India help desk has been great and on the case all the time trying to help and book out the engineers.

Is this still a bug with the hub 2.0 type "A", does anybody else have the same troubles?

Come on BT give me some answers........And get my connection swaped out to a new card at the exchange.....

Re: Frequent and random ADSL line drop / resync with Homehub v2.0 Type "A"

OK so after weeks and weeks, it looks like it was the local exchange end with the fault.

The hub can now stay up for over a week etc no problems, I still get the odd few days when the ADSL drops 3 or 4 times a day, then its steady for ages, then goes funny etc.....

So it was not the HUB or the internal wiring in my house, it may have been the aluminium cable used by BT but that is now replaced with all copper to the exchange.
