Re: G.INP affecting certain eci modems, resulting in a drop in sync rate and other issues

My line is banded I think by DLM at the moment because before G.INP was turned on I was syncing at 79,999/19,999 and I'm only about 100 meters away from the green cab. I've been with BT 18 months Infinity 1/2 then Sky Fibre Pro 12 months then back to BT now for 18 months now on a new 12 month recontract so hopefully after a couple of day to a week now I've got a HH5 type B I should go back to normal before all this happened as never had problems with BT/Sky with my FTTC connection tbh....

Re: G.INP affecting certain eci modems, resulting in a drop in sync rate and other issues

Throwin in my stats from the hub 5b i got sent.  Still suffering from massive ping and lag spikes making my internet and gaming experience unbearable, pages hang, wont load pictures, etc.  3 months and counting.  😞

Not sure if the firmware needs updated, or the boorloader.  Speed is pretty consistant altho I had one or 2 days of sub 2mb but it all returned.

Re: G.INP affecting certain eci modems, resulting in a drop in sync rate and other issues

I wanted to see what my hh5a would be reporting by itself without the eci modem attached to it. And this was a surprise that its reporting just over 9 upload the highest I've ever had!
My download is pretty much the same at the moment. I have a feeling the hh5 *may* resync again at some point. Hopefully get a full 40Mbps down. Fingers crossed.
From the looks of it I am on the trial I must be. I have not been informed by anyone. I can only assume from this upload increase and lower pings I am. As I am a eci/HH5A user on a huawei cabinet.

Re: G.INP affecting certain eci modems, resulting in a drop in sync rate and other issues

Well I've got thruogh to the good folks in Newcastle.

Surprise No1: It was claimed that until I spoke to them they had not heard of this issue.

I'll just leave that there!

Anyway, the young lady was helpful enough and she and her manager went off to OpenReach to find out more and to see if they could get authorisation for my request for a HH5 B.

Surprise No2: she rang back, this morning, as promised.

OpenReach acknowledge the issue but that because they are currently working on a 'fix' it is not possible to authorise the specific mailing of a HH5 B. The 'fix' may take some weeks!!!

We now know that...

1. BT can ...IF THEY SO CHOOSE... send out type B's.

If anyone from BT tells you they can't ...they're talking BS.

2. BT are currently REFUSING to do so...beacause OpenReach REFUSE TO AUTHORISE IT.... that is supply their customers with equipemnet that works.

£. OpenReach are fobbing off BTretail who in turn are fobbing off us!.

Question: is it actually possible, without ripping open a HH5 A to physically change the chip-set ...to get the type A to work with G.INP???

All I'm asking is BT to send me a type B to replace my type A and resolve this issue ...you'd think I was asking them to sacrifice all 1st born children or something!

Re: G.INP affecting certain eci modems, resulting in a drop in sync rate and other issues

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your continued patience.  As you know Openreach recently carried out a trial to address the reports on this thread with regards to G.INP.  Openreach are very happy with the results of the trial and after some consultation they have now decided to roll this fix out across the network.

The repair is due to roll out for all relevant customers within the next few weeks, but unfortunately we are not able to put anyone to the head of the queue

I would like to thank everyone that has contributed on this thread and for the patience you have shown.

Cheers

Sean

Re: G.INP affecting certain eci modems, resulting in a drop in sync rate and other issues

@fingerbob69 I have a type "A" that is currently working with G.INP, however i am on the trial and i am on the large huawei cab NOT the eci type which from other posts ive seen is getting a patch "soon". I have now been told they have all the info they need and can now stop posting my stats, indeed looking at the logs the configuration server (or whatever it is) has been logging into my hub a LOT more then usual over the last two days but bottom line is my type A is a lot more stable then it was 3 months ago and unless something changes im staying on the one box setup and putting both my white modems in to the cupboard.
