GMail app not downloading Talk21 emails suddenly

Since changing my password and getting thrown off the yahoo mail app I've been using Gmail app to access my talk21 emails on my android phone. At 5am this morning I had notification of three new emails. I swiped the notification away and didn't open the app. This morning at 8am,I opened the app and there were no new unread emails and the three I received in the night were missing. These emails are present in the web access Inbox so they've not been deleted, I just don't seem to be able to download them. I assume there's something wrong with POP3 access to my account but what would change overnight?

So it has since downloaded later emails so the issue is limited to the three. I assume Gmail app marked them as downloaded on the server but didn't actually download them (strange given at least one was received over 5 hours prior and that I got the notification so would have been subject to a number of inbox synchs).
