Do speeds slow with increased patronage?
Basically was with a direct competition provider who also provides a satellite TV service from up in the air (if you know who I mean) and had really good broadband to the hub speeds - nothing too spectacular - around 55mbps.
This gradually slowed to around 42mbps, Openreach replaced the dropwire and connected me to a different pair as their were issues on the line and the speeds went back up to 56mpbs - for about 4 hours, then due to the fact that everything was reset it slowed again - down to 36mbps.
WiFi in the house was awful - kids always complained, so bit the bullet and switched to BT - now on BT Plus - which I have to admit is pretty good. Got 2 discs due to layout and construction of the house and don't have any issues with the WiFI in the house.. but the speeds have never really recovered. Pretty consistent now - but at 38-39mbps.
So really my question is, is it normal that with more and more people taking out fibre to the cabinet, speeds will generally slow down due to the overall traffic on the network? If this IS the case - surely Openreach will need to upgrade the FTTC system to keep up with demand otherwise they whole system will fall over!
Problems with congestion can occur in the backhaul network, note not the cabinet itself. BTWholesale monitoring systems can detect when the backhaul is getting overloaded and extra capacity would be provided to alleviate the problem. There can obviously be a lag between identifying the problem and rectification.

Current speed at the router is 39.605Mbps down and 9.993Mbps Up...
please can you post the actual full stats from advanced settings then technical log information (note not the actual technical log)
have you tried using the test socket with a filter to see if that improves your connection speed/attainable speed?
is there any line noise dial 17070 option 2 should be silent and best with corded phone from test socket
