Genuine Question. Why stay with BT?

Go to solution

I've posted on here before about the 2km distance from our cabinet, meaning that we get about 17mps on Infinity.  Following some helpful advice ( https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Fibre-broadband/Broadband-Speed-Distance-from-Cabinet/m-p/1854156#M27...) I chased it up with our County Council.  The upshot is that yes, we were supposed to get connected to a new cabinet 400 meters away, but due to an error, our streets were missed off, the cabinet is full and there's no dosh to build another one either in OpenReach or the County Council.

Obviously I'm not taking this lying down, but assuming we can get no movement, is there any reason why I should stay on BT?  It's the most expensive provider and given that we're just about bumping along the bottom of the FTTC speed chain, I can't see what justifies it.  Is BT intrinsically better than anyone else?  Sky/Plusnet etc?  I've known people have lots of problems with TalkTalk, for example.

This isn't a BT whinge or a try-on.  I'd genuinely like to know.

I'm afraid its against forum rules to discuss the pros and cons of other ISPs. Whichever provider you go with will still use the same Openreach infrastructure, however.

Thanks.  Sorry for breaking the rule.  It was a genuine question about BT's advantages.  But, hey!

Over and out!

Bottom line, all ISP's are treated equally with exactly the same access. The choice is yours and no-one elses.
