Hello all
I'm a student and moved in early in september and had the joy to see that the previous tenants let the WiFi and that it was still working. But obviously, it doesn't work anymore and now (more than never with lockdown) we need wifi back very soon.
I was about to sign a broadband deal when they told me some technician had to come and set everything up the 15 of DECEMBER.
This is far too long and I wanted to know if there was something we could do considering we still have the BT SmartHub at home.
Thank you very much !
Welcome to this user forum.
Are you planning to order BT Broadband?
If you are, then its self install, and once your service has been activated, you can just plug in the home hub.
Its advisable to place the order as soon as possible, as Openreach tend to get very busy from now onwards.
You may find that you can manage with mobile broadband while you wait.
If you do it online, you should be given a date for activation.
Did you place an order when you moved in 2 months ago? Or did you use someone elses connection and are now looking at getting connected in your own name? You should get the order placed as soon as possible, give the order a day or two, then ask if they can fast track it for you

Expediting an order costs hundreds of pounds, it's done to correct a BT mistake, not for no reason.
Thank you for your answer. How long will the activation take ?
Thanks
