Getting Fibre and Tv installed on Monday

Go to solution

Hi,

My Parents are getting infinity 1 and the tv entertainment installed on Monday.

The main master socket is in the hallway. And they spend most of the time in there conservatory.

I am wonder if they could use powerline adaptors so they could have the youview box set up in the conservatory.

Thanks

It all depends on the quality of the wiring within the house.

I have one box connected directly to the router and 2nd box via power line adapters without any issues.

What's the best powerline adaptor to get?

Seen some tp powerline adaptors at pc world for £24.99

Would these be good enough?

Thanks

When I first had BT TV I used some from Argos and my picture always used to break up and pixellate.  Phoned BT and they sent me there Power line adapters for free.  No problems ever since (about 5 months ago).

Good luck

That's handy to know. I thought BT didn't support the use of powerline adaptors.

I was thinking of paying the extra and going for the BT powerline adaptors.

If you are getting an engineer install, they are supposed to hard wire the TV box wherever you want it.

The problem is hard wiring the youview box is that the phone point is in the hallway. It would mean some how coming from one side of the house to the other. Then along the kitchen wall and into the conservatory.

Think i will get the powerline adaptors as a back up plan. If the engineer can hard wire it, I can always take the powerline adaptors back and get a refund.

BT don't support powerline adaptors.  But that doesn't mean they won't work, just that BT doesn't support them.
