Getting slower and slower - WHY?

BT are demanding more and more money for broadband and mine's getting slower and slower.

I used to get at least 44 mb, now it's down to 31mb?

Why?

Re: Getting slower and slower - WHY?

if you have a Homehub 5 can you also post the stats from 1-12 by logging onto the homehub management pages then troubleshooting > helpdesk. http://bthomehub.home/

The stats for the Home Hub 6 can be found on the Information page from http://192.168.1.254 then Advanced Settings -> Technical Log.

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.

Can you use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

Re: Getting slower and slower - WHY?

Have you been rebooting the Hub? If so stop it, it'll only make matters worse.

Try a quiet line test 17070 option 2, the line should be silent between announcements. Any noise report a line fault not a broadband one.

Re: Getting slower and slower - WHY?

What noise am I listening for? There's a continual low volume hiss.. but that could be the phone (or my ears!)

Re: Getting slower and slower - WHY?

The quiet line test should be just that silent any noise will affect broadband

Thanks. What do I do about it then? As there was definitely a continual hiss. It wasn't like I had the phone to my ear when it's not making a call.

Report a line fault on 151. Don't mention broadband.

Re: Getting slower and slower - WHY?

Hi @roger06 and thanks for posting.

If you have noise on the line you need to report a line fault to 151 for investigation. Once that's sorted the broadband connection will recover automatically.
