HH2 (Type A) firmware

Is there any way of forcing an update from the J to the U firmware?

I did a full factory reset some weeks ago and still there hasn't been an automatic update.

Thanks.

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi PSH,

I am afraid not, the Hub will automatically retain the latest version of firmware available.

Thx

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the reply.

However, my Hub (2 Type A) stubbornly remains on a previous version (8.1.H.J) when I know that a new version (8.1.H.U) has been available for some time.

As I said, the Hub has been reset to factory defaults in order to prompt an automatic upgrade but nothing had happened over several weeks.

Any other suggestions as to how this might be sorted?

Many thanks.

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi PSH, As Craig said there isn't a way you can force an upgrade on this version Hub,the official recommendation from BT is to do a factory reset and wait for it to auto upgrade.

The previous version Hubs could be manually upgraded but it's a complex procedure and not for the faint hearted.

Cheers,

Del.

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi Del.

Thanks for the info on the official recommendation.

Since I did a factory reset many weeks ago perhaps a moderator could advise on how long one has to wait for the auto upgrade.

Thanks.

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi PSH,

I have had a look through our help site and 8.1.H.J is the most up to date version for your Hub:

My BT Home Hub 2.0 has not yet received the latest firmware.

The latest, most up-to-date versions of BT Home Hub 2.0 firmware are:

  • Software version 8.1.H.J (Type A)
  • Software version 4.7.5.1.83 (Type B)

You can view the page in full here.

Thx

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi Craig,

I'm afraid that page is somewhat out of date.  Another page here (http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13073) refers to the U version.

It would still be useful to know how long it potentially takes for the auto upgrade to happen after a factory reset.

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi PSH,

I have had a word with our product specialists and they have confirmed Software version 8.1.H.J (Type A) is the latest version.

Sorry about the confusion, I'll get the help pages updated.

Thx

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

Hi Craig,

I beg to differ on that.

I have an old/expired HH2 (Type A) that was updated to 8.1.H.U (which solved the hub phone date/time problem amongst other things) and there is a thread here about that version (http://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/home-hub-2-new-firmware/m-p/263757#M7861) - I rememeber that the U version also attached the suffix -H to the BTOpenzone SSID as noted at the end of the identified thread.

All I want to do is to get my replacement hub updated to a similar state.

Re: HH2 (Type A) firmware

My Home Hub is showing software version 8.1.H.U. I have no memory of when it updated.
