HH2b - what S/W level should it be at, and how do you update it?

BT Infinity Home Hub 2.0b

What build level should it be at? and how do you update it?

My hub reports - 4.7.5.1.83.2.11.2.6 (Type B)

This page - http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12406 - says "Software version 4.7.5.1.83.3.37 (Type B)", and this page http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11585 says "Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 (Type B)"

So is it 83.2.x.y.z or 83.3.x or 83.8.x.y.z ?  ( or have I mis-read something?)

Either way, whats the latest version I should have, and how do I udate to it?

Thank you.

Re: HH2b - what S/W level should it be at, and how do you update it?

I believe the BT Home Hub 2.0b is Software version 4.7.5.1.83.3.37

The second link you've posted looks like it's a typing error, as the 3.0a has the 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 firmware. Plus afaik the hub 2.0 isn't capable of supporting multicast

A forum mod would be able to confirm this;)

Thanks for the reply.

I've emailed BT to ask how I update the software manually.

Not sure why their auto update doesn't work, but things like this worry me. Why make a nice shiny auto update system to "take the strain" and actually make one that doesn't seem to work? 🙂

Re: HH2b - what S/W level should it be at, and how do you update it?

Did you try this?

In the unlikely event your Hub 2.0 hasn't received the update, please reset your Hub to factory defaults by pressing the 'Reset to Defaults' button on the side of the Hub. Doing this means you'll lose any changes you've previously made to the Hub firmware using the Hub Manager. So you may need to reactivate things like BT Broadband Talk and opt-in again to BT FON.

Re: HH2b - what S/W level should it be at, and how do you update it?

Yes thanks, I noticed that and am intending to give it a try, once I had found out which level the software should be "raised" to.  I contacted BT via an email link as per your 'mod' suggestion - thank you, awaiting a response.

Mind you though, I only know one other person with a similar Inf 2 and an HH2b setup, and his is the same. So I'm not sure how an "unlikely event" this actually is. Oh for a simple <update check> button on a menu somewhere. Shouldn't have to reset all the setup (I assume passwords as well etc) just to get updated software. Maybe not.

Re: HH2b - what S/W level should it be at, and how do you update it?

For info.

I tried that procedure, it made no difference regarding S/W updates.

But I have since been contacted by BT and they claim the links I refer to above are actually in error (on the web site) and the HH2b should be at the build I have - Software version 4.7.5.1.83.2.11.2.6 (Type B)

So my hub is in fact at the right, latest build level after all.

Good to hear you found out from BT:)

All BT need to do now is tell BT!:D - http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13073

Re: HH2b - what S/W level should it be at, and how do you update it?

Agreed, seems very odd to me. But he said he would let "the web people" know.

All that would make this complete now is for someone to post that their HH2b IS at one of the other (apparently wrong) levels 🙂

I used to work for BT a few years back. At that time they had a QMS phrase "get it rite first tim everey thyme"  🙂
