IS the HH3 holding back the speeds
When the HH3 ver b is connected via infinity
Download speed is 65mb with upload of 8.91
just tried my BT infinity HGV2701 v
Got download speeds of 77.5 with upload of 17mb
tried the speedteat.net tester few time got the same results
Quite possibly. I've been doing some speed tests tonight via the LAN cable to the HH3. The DL is reported as 59Mb between exchange and the HH (as stated on the BT test screen) and only 51Mb from HH3 to my lappie.
The BT Retail test is a little confusing in the way it reports the results. What it reports as DL between exchange and HH appears to be a guess of your sync speed, based on the IP profile * 1.033. The download speed will always be lower even with a wired connection in perfect conditions, because the sync speed includes various overheads that are not reported in the final speed to end device. Even so, that 59/51 difference is a little large.
It is less confusing to run the speedtest at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and after the test choose ‘Further Diagnostics’ and to see the profiles that this gives. It gives the same results, but doesn't dress them up.
Also, to get the most precise results out of either, disconnect and reconnect the router (NOT the modem) just before the test, to make sure that the IP Profile properly reflects your current sync speed. It usually does, but they sometimes get out of step.
Did not realise you could use the BT Business Hub HGV2701 instead of the HH3. I have an old BT Business Hub, I might have ago if it works with the Home Retail Infinity connection?. I do know they both have FTTC connections on the modems but did not know they were compatible with Infinity home connections, I also have a BT Business HH3 as well. I did not think Business hubs would work on a home package?. Anyone know, I might give them a try?.
will do when you overwrite the login details
With your main e-mail address
Cannot be the BT click on a Res line
@Travelusa. Do I just put my details into the business home hub page the same ones as my home connection details?. Do I just write them down of my home hub page now and then put them in when I have rigged up my business hub or are the details different?. Mine at the moment says this:- email@example.com, do I just put that in with my password into the business home hub?, or what do I put in?. Is it username and password into the buisness hub settings not what is in my HH3 settings at the moment?.
I have a BT Business Hub 2701 HGV-C and a Black BT Buiness Hub 3.0. How can I get these working on my home infinity connection, has anyone got any ideas of how to rig them up?, I would like to try. I have heard BT Business modems are alot better for your connection with speeds etc..
Has anyone actually tested the bt Business hubs on a residential infinity connection?. Are they better modems?.
travelusa is not wrong,
but you can use almost any email-like address with firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com,
and any password (or even no password at all for routers that will accept that).
Thanks. Do the business hub 2701HGV work better than the home hub, do you get better speeds etc.. I will test it at the weekend when I have a bit of spare time I just wanted to know?. Looks like @Travelusa got much better results with the business hub over the Home hub!. 🙂
