HH5 VDSL2 Modem/Router Combo Replacements

Hi,

I noticed 2 users here bought the ZyXEL SBG3300 N (Kenny & Sylver 123) and confirmed it was a good choice.

Are there any other recommended router/modem combi devices people use as HH5 replacements?

Many Thanks,

Atif

Such an open ended question.

You would be far better off deciding which router features you want for your network that suit your needs and pocket, research yourself and then come back with your choises for recommendation.

Re: HH5 VDSL2 Modem/Router Combo Replacements

Thanks Ray - Will add this to my list. What about the -

  • Billion 7800N
  • Billion 8300 NEL Wireless-N
  • Fritzbox (Couldnt find a specic model name on this forum, someone just mentioned the company)
  • Draytek (Couldnt find a specic model name on this forum, someone just mentioned the company)
  • ZyXEL SBG3300 N

Pippin - its not really an open ended question. I just want recommendations from what users from this forum already have. Once I have names of models, that's where the research begins....

Draytek or ZyXel HH5 Replacement

Hi Guys,

Ive narrowed my search to two possible candidates as a direct HH5 replacement -

ZyXEL SBG3300N

OR

DrayTek Vigor 2760n

5Ghz wireless not needed. My main activities include heavy PC gaming, streaming, P2P etc. Cost not an issue, just need to know which one in your opinion you would choose.

Many Thanks

Re: Draytek or ZyXel HH5 Replacement

Hey, I use the Zyxel SBG3300.

Good solid router combo, good wifi and good speeds.

Only gripe for me is your restricted to 1 DNS provider, and just as I type that I have checked to be sure and they have added in no-ip.com in the lastest firmware, so therefore I have no gripes now lol.

Re: Draytek or ZyXel HH5 Replacement

@licquorice

There is a lot of love for the TP Link router in these forums.

I'm thinking of ditching my HH5 because since I've had it my IP phone doesnt work (DTMF intermittent and other party cant hear me if they are on a mobile!)

Does the TP link enable me to do this, as suggested by my SIP provider, the HH5 has no such setting.

" Your 'BT hub' likely has a SIP ALG which is messing up your calls. The SIP interferes with the SIP CISCO device signalling and tries to 'help' (but confuses the remote service) . Please check with BT if the home hub has a SIP ALG enabled. Try disabling this feature."
