Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

re-reading your previous posts you mention noise on your line during phone calls - if you do the quiet line test - dial 17070 option 2 - is it quiet or is there noise/crackle - best done with a corded phone if possible.

just in the test socket you are still dropping connection and noise margin not coming down

if you hear noise then report a phone fault NOT a broadband fault - dial 151

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Thanks.  I've done the quiet test on a corded phone in the test socket and there is still noise and crackle although not quite as bad as before.  I will report the fault on the phone line and see what happens.

Thanks for your advice.

Kind regards, Amanda

any noise/crackle on your line is a killer for your broadband so hopefully if phone engineer fixes crackle should help the broadband

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Well I can't fault BT so far!  I rang them at about 10.20pm last night, reported the fault and at 8.10am this morning, two engineers turned up and have now replaced the external cabling so there is no noise at the master socket.  Hooray!

Here are the test results which I have just run:

 Download Speed

 64 Kbps

0 Kbps 250 Kbps

Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 64 Kbps

For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 100-250 Kbps.

 Additional Information:

 Your DSL Connection Rate :2592 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)

IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps

The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 28.13:17.31:54.78 (SBE:NBE:PBE)

These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Hi Amanda

that looks far better and well worth the phone call.  now just need to wait until your rock bottom profile of 135 catches up with your need speed

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

your noise margin is still a bit high so just stay connected 24/7 and that will drop with an increase in your speed.  With all the changes down by the engineers your line could have gone back into training so just reamin connected
