Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

people on the forum seem to like it.  it is helping people who have wireless problems with the HH2 but down side is it does not support VOIP nor will it act like a dect base station.

I wouldn't dash out to buy one but would ask for one when I nogotiate my next contract

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Okay, things are not any better although I think the problem may now be different.

Last week the problem seemed to be external, ie the results through the test socket were no better than the normal socket.

Things settled down at the end of last week until Wednesday of this week when the speeds collapsed again.  In addition, the telephone line has a huge amount of noise on it to the point I can barely hear the person on the other end of the line.  I then realised that when making a call, the BB connection dropped so I moved the router to the master socket which solved that problem.  However the connection is very unstable and keeps dropping randomly now presumably due to the noise?

I changed all the ADSL filters which has made no difference.  Speeds this morning are still dreadful.

These are the test results from this morning:

 Download Speed

 74 Kbps

0 Kbps 250 Kbps

Max Achievable Speed

Download speed achieved during the test was - 74 Kbps

For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 100-250 Kbps.

 Additional Information:

 Your DSL Connection Rate :192 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)

IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps

The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 7.57:23.61:69.45 (SBE:NBE:PBE)

These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

 Upload Speed

 357 Kbps

0 Kbps 448 Kbps

Max Achievable Speed

 Additional Information:

Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 448 Kbps

I will now go and connect it to the test socket and report back....

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Sorry for the delay, but these are the results from the test socket - yikes!

Download speed achieved during the test was - 60 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 100-250 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 19.25:15.44:66.04 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

This test was not conclusive and further testing is required. This might be useful for your ISP to investigate the fault.

Note: An Upstream test was not conducted on this line due to a technical issue. If your concern is related to upstream performance then please retry
the performance test again in 1 hours time.

ADSL line status

Connection information

Line state Connected

Connection time 0 days, 1:25:32

Downstream 2,752 Kbps

Upstream 448 Kbps

ADSL settings

Modulation ITU-T G.992.1

Latency type Interleaved

Noise margin (Down/Up) 14.3 dB / 20.0 dB

Line attenuation (Down/Up) 52.0 dB / 31.5 dB

Output power (Down/Up) 18.3 dBm / 12.6 dBm

Loss of Framing (Local) 280

Loss of Power (Local) 0

FEC Errors (Down/Up) 2138 / 0

CRC Errors (Down/Up) 51 / 2147480000

HEC Errors (Down/Up) nil / 0

I'm really struggling now - I cannot work and it's the busiest time of my year!  I'm happy to pay someone to come and sort it out as I just need it all fixed and frankly it's now beyond me.

Any help and advice gratefully received.

Thanks, Amanda

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

connecting to the test socket has given best speed so far 2752 but profile still rock botom of 135.  your noise margin is still high at 14.4 but if you can stay in test socket and maintain connection 24/7 then your profile will increase in 3/5 days maybe sooner.  your noise margin if stable should drop and your speed get a bit faster.

just stay connected 24/7

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Ok thanks.  I presume there aren't any problems with staying in test socket?  We don't use any phone extensions.

Can I just ask why the download speed in the test is so poor when the router stats suggest that it should be so much higher?  Sorry if it is a numpty question!

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

all the disconnections/resets have resulted in a higher than normal noise margin which in turn reduces your speed.  so staying connected should show a stable line and then the exchange will start to lower your noise margin with normally an increase in speed.

your profile should rise from 135 by just staying connected 24/7

there is no problem remaining inthe test socket if you do not have/use extension sockets

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

Great thanks for your help.  We will stay connected (hopefully).  I've now relocated to my mother's where she has a fab connection so with that AND a cup of coffee, calm will descend and I can focus on work again.

Have a great weekend 🙂

Still very slow today.......I would have thought there would have been some improvement in 24 hours?  Perhaps I'm expecting too much .......

Re: Help! Very slow connection since last week and no improvement ....

are you still in the test socket as your speed has dropped down to 352?
