Help with high/unstable ping

Recently I've been having some issues with my fiber broadband and have lost some speed. My ping is the main issue as a game I play relies on good ping. I used to get about half the ping I get now. And even though its not a huge jump its still  impacts my game. I have a ping plotter if that helps. Thanks.

Re: Help with high/unstable ping

if you have a Homehub 5 can you also post the stats from 1-12 by logging onto the homehub management pages then troubleshooting > helpdesk. http://bthomehub.home/

The stats for the Home Hub 6 can be found on the Information page from http://192.168.1.254 then Advanced Settings -> Technical Log.

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.

Can you use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

Re: Help with high/unstable ping

as you are connecting your hub 5 using the Openreach modem there is unfortunately no meaningful data from the hub 5 that may be showing your problem

Re: Help with high/unstable ping

As john has stated, it's difficult to say what's going on, apart from the fact that loss of speed and increased latency does point to a connection under the remit of added interleave and error correction, which may well have come about because of line problems ... but without line stats, hard to say. Is the line quiet? 17070 option 2 ... no crackles, hums or squeeks reqd.
