Re: Help with slow speeds please

Don't wish to interupt your argument gents but if it helps, my exchange is not LLU so as I said, TalkTalk would have been providing a much faster (relatively) service using the same equipment.  Anyway, back to the original problem.  I've done another speedtest this morning & got the worst result so far.  The service is so slow that I did not think that the page was going to load.  Here's the results

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

 Download  Speed
 0.05 Mbps

0 Mbps1 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.05 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.2 Mbps-1 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :0.93 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.75 Mbps

The Home Hub router stats are now as follows,

ADSL Line Status
Connection Information
Line state:Connected
Connection time:3 days, 15:34:32
Downstream:928 Kbps
Upstream:448 Kbps

ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI:0/38
Type:PPPoA
Modulation:G.992.1 Annex A
Latency type:Fast
Noise margin (Down/Up):3.5 dB / 10.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up):73.6 dB / 31.5 dB
Output power (Down/Up):15.6 dBm / 12.5 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up):0 / 53261
CRC Events (Down/Up):5541224 / 40204
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):0 / 0
HEC Events (Down/Up):2739191 / 4294949595
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):288578 / 54205

So can someone please tell me how I can get help with this rather than suggesting it's the best I'm going to get.   Thanks again.

Re: Help with slow speeds please

Hi you are on a very long line and your noise margin is already at the lowest level there is basically no room for any speed improvement your line is very stable

You could try connecting to the test socket and see if there is any improve ment there And post back the results

If there is any improvement you could try removing the bell wire from terminal 3 on all phone sockets
Then post back

Re: Help with slow speeds please

sorry but I agree with john46 that with your attenuation you are a long way from the exchange and a conenction speed of about 1/1.2 mb is about as good as you will get and then that is on a good line with no noise.  try the suggestions john46 made of test socket and also removing the bellwire

bellwire removal

Re: Help with slow speeds please

The test results posted above were made using the test socket.  Don't think that I'm any further away from the exchange with BT that I was with TalkTalk but I can have a look outside to see if my house has moved.

Re: Help with slow speeds please

Then i am sorry you are on the best speed you are likely to get there is little that can be done to improve your connection my only suggestion would be get a BT Business hub 2700 or 2701 they are well known to work well on long lines they can be purchased from a well known auction site but make sure you buy a boxed one

Re: Help with slow speeds please

The latest test results are as follows.

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

 Download  Speed
 0.46 Mbps

0 Mbps1 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.46 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.2 Mbps-1 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :0.96 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.75 Mbps

Once again, I'm not a techie so I don't understand (or really care) what the numbers mean.  All I know is that the numbers used to be higher & my broadband used to be faster.  So it's obviously not an impossiblity for it to be faster coz it was!
