High Noise Margin & ping times

Hi, new to the forum.  Can someone comment on our connection speeds and noise margins.  Due to location we know it won't be blazing fast but we've dropped from 1.97 (after settling in period of 3-14 days, went live 15.4.2015) to 1.43 (much better than our previous ISP though, even at the lower figure)

 

I've copied the relevent lines from the Hub log (Hub4b)

 

14:59:59, 05 May. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=1952Kbps, Up Rate=448Kbps; SNR Margin Down=7.5dB, Up=15.0dB

14:40:01, 01 May. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=2272Kbps, Up Rate=448Kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.8dB, Up=16.0dB

 

Are these within acceptable margins?

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods

in order for the forum members to help please can you run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).

 

the normal noise margin is about 6db and if your can get your current 7.5db down to normal then that will give a bit more conenction speed


are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

 

can you enter your phone number and post results  remember to delete number  https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Noise test quiet. We have a new NTES Mk3 socket box which was fitted before porting across to BT.

Hope all the info is what's required.

that's ok

 

I think as line now stable for 3 days then see if mods will reset your noise margin back to 6db which will give a bit more connection speed and therefore a bit faster download mods will post a contact us link

After completing the email NOT PM then you join a queue of other customers waiting for mod help. The mods will get back to you in 3/5 working days either by phone or email
