Home Hub 5 Radius Support

Hi

I'M Currently waiting for my activation of Infinity Broadband from BT, I have been using Radius for some time whilst on Virgin Media Broadband, I have taken a look at the BT Home Hub 5 Wireless settings and cant find anything relivent to Radius.

On the Virgin Media Hub I was able to select WPA/WPA2 Enterprise, RADIUS Server IP Address, RADIUS Port and RADIUS Key.

Is this possible on the BT Home Hub 5?

Thanks

Paul

Re: Home Hub 5 Radius Support

No, that tends to be used more by businesses. As BT Residential Broadband is only for residential use, and business use is forbidden, then there is no reason for BT to include that in the home hub.

Re: Home Hub 5 Radius Support

Hi Keith,

If there's no radius allowed on HH5 (only WPA2 personel) how come I see WPA2 enterprise for HH5 on inssider?

Re: Home Hub 5 Radius Support

A possible answer is that it is a third party router but has been given an SSID of HH5xxxx.

Re: Home Hub 5 Radius Support

Nice try Bertie. At least you did try and that's good.

Trouble is it can't be so.

I know this 'cause I myself have a non BT router.

Just bet you knew that all along.

You knew I just wouldn't have a BT HHFIVER in my gaff. And you were so right too. I don't.

My router is no BT FIVER and it's SSD is changeable like you say but only at the user interface. It changes nothing at the inssider level. It shows up as ADCVGBHJMNMK or whatever you want when you connect in windows ui BUT with inssider it will still show up with the original manufacturers ssd monnicker.

Anyways it's all houses and houses as far as the eye can see roud here and I've just gotta ask if what you say is right, what's someone doing hiding a radius server like that for ???

Re: Home Hub 5 Radius Support

Man LOL HfH gave it a shot and for that I'm seriously grateful.

X uses Enterprise BUT if you look at the stats security for X is HH4 white sliced no sign of Enterprise. So no answers there. Unless HH5 uses it and the other poster was wrong.

Does that kinda thing happen here?

Still doesn't make sense. HH5 with Enterprise and it's not showing on the X channel. Come to think of it the X channel is missing too. Maybe they opted out.

Dang! Now you could be right - and it nearly makes sense - but only if all the HH5 channels used Enterprise. And we know they don't. Cause that's what we've already been told.

So you're still wrong.

And BT reserve the very best in personal security(Enterprise WPA2) for a drive by waiting to happen.

Come to think of it this is exactly why I don't have a BT router.

If you change the SSID on your router, that is what will be transmitted for the world to see.
