Home Hub 5 issue

Hi, not sure if anybody can help with this.

I just recently got the new Home Hub 5. Before I had the Home Hub version 3.A (I think) and is was connected to the white infinity box, not sure what it's called but I expect you get what I'm talking about. However, I read somewhere that the Home Hub 5 didn't need to connect to said white box, is this right? I've currently got it connected to the white box and it's working fine but strangely my speed has now pretty much been halved. Previously I was getting around 40-50MBS on the speedtest.net and I'm now getting around 20.

Just wondering if it's because the new Home Hub shouldn't be connected to the white infinity box or not? Or if it's some kind of issue with the new Home Hub itself?

Thought I'd ask before trying to contact BT about it. Any help is much appreciated.

Re: Home Hub 5 issue

You do not need to use the white Openreach modem. The HH5 has an integrated modem and plugs straight into the phone socket.

Re: Home Hub 5 issue

Thanks.

I've taken the white box away now though the speed hasn't changed, still only getting around 20mbs when running a speed test and don't understand why the speeds been halved all of a sudden?

Re: Home Hub 5 issue

Well you're still synced up at 48Megs, so any issues are due to throttling.
