Hi,
Firstly, please ignore the username - I set it up years ago when I was grumpy.....
Anyway, I have been attempting to change my payment due date for my whole bill direct debit for the past month and a half. I have contacted bt about this and have been advised to wait until my next payment was taken and they advised me to do it online. I have taken this advice, but it still will not allow me to do this.
I then spoke to someone via chat who promised me it would be done.
Still not done and it still will not allow me to change my Payment Due Date.
I am on whole bill direct debit for only broadband and landline.
The options I have are to only change it from 13th to the end of the month.
I would like to change it to the 5th of each month.
Can you help.

You may already have seen and tried this.
Thanks for the response.
It does state that as a "whole bill direct debit" I can change my payment due date but your system is not allowing me to change it to the 5th of each month; it only gives me the option for 13th to the end of the month.
Can you please provide info on how I change it to the 5th as the customer service reps I have spoken too was not able to do it either.
Should I just cancel my direct debit and then phone and request for them to reset it up and choose my pdd then?
yes, I have already read the link and understood - but it doesn't answer the question? It states I can change it and explains about billing.... but neither I or the customer service reps can change my pdd.
Do you accept payment via standing order?
I could cancel my direct debit and change the payment method to monthly payment plan and then just setup a standing order for a date that suits me, which would be the day you produce the bill, 5th of each month..... I can't believe I'm wanting to pay a bill earlier and can't.
Is this possible?

Congratulations on that. I'm getting progressively worse.
Please be aware that you're not talking direct to BT here. This is a customer to customer forum and BT staff usually appear only when an issue can't be resolved.
As far as one can tell, payment dates are not influenced by individuals' actions or circumstances so a temporary standing order would not help even if BT accepted them, which they don't. The range of dates you've already found is all that's on offer. To my knowledge, the restrictions have never been explained publicly, but a good guess would be that BT could not face receiving almost all their millions of payments around the last day of the month, which would be the likely result of a free for all.
You made me laugh @pottyperson- thanks for the info - I did think it was BT I was talking too....
I decided to give them a call again and spoke to Daniel; very helpful person. He obviously, couldn't change it but said, he would keep an eye on it and if it every changes, he will call and let me know....
He also told me about a £104 credit I had on my account since last July when BT had a power surge...... he wanted to put half of it to my next bill and refund the rest. Told him no; just refund the lot.
Bit surprised that they took direct debits from me every month, even though I had all that credit?????
Learned something new, always ask if there is a credit......

My thoughts:
I would be surprised if the credit did not show on your monthly statements/bills?
The credit business is surprising @AlwaysGrumpy. Any credit balance is normally applied to subsequent bills until the extra is used up; that's how it's worked for me in the past. My guess this time is that it's a two-stage process - determine the amount then apply it to the customer's account - which has only got half way. An untimely tea break possibly.😁
I tried to change my payment date some years ago - things may have changed since then.
I had at the time, and still have, BT landline, broadband, TV and mobile. I was told that because I had mobile with them, it was not possible to change the payment date.
