After loss of phone the 4pair overhead cable feeding our property and our neighbours was found to have the outer sheath shredded by its passing through a hedge. Some pairs had exposed copper. The broadband had been working but had deteriorated over the last 18months, ip profile progressively dropping from 2mb to 1mb. The cable has been replaced and broadband is now about 800k.
We are about 3 miles from the exchange, with a mixture of underground overhead so I don't expect miracles but I would like to get back to 2MB at least. How can I get the ip profile reset?

It will normally sort itself out after about five days, provided you do not disconnect or restart the home hub.
Which home hub do you have?
can you post the adsl stats from your router and btspeedtester diagnostic results
Thanks for the reply. I have just checked the BT Wholesale Test and the IP profile has been increased to 2.2Mb
It has restored my faith in the technology!
for information my router is NETGEAR DGND3300v2 DUAL BAND and is now running faster than I have ever seen!
DownStream Connection Speed 2875 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 747 kbps
I have only had a USB modem free from BT when I first had a data connection.
Probably a really good cable now.
USB modems, I remember those. I had one of the "frogs".
