How to get new customer deals if you are an existing customer?

I just tried to renew but they were not able to offer the new customer deal to me at the price I had seen online, despite the renewal letter stating that 'we promise you'll never pay more than a new customer when you renew your contract'.  I am out of contract on TV already and BB contract expires end of October.  The price they offered was £20/month more than for new customers.

Are you a Halo customer ? you bill will tell you if you're unsure.
The price promise is typically a Halo promise, so if you're comparing non-Halo packages that could explain the difference you're seeing.
