I cannot get BTINTERNET mail to work on OUTLOOK on laptop but OK on OUTLOOK on the desktop

I have BTInternet EMail working in OUTLOOK on the desktop (IMAP)

But I cannot get it to work again (it used to) on the laptop with either IMAP or POP3.  I have tried comparing settings and they seem to the dame.

It fail to connect when I run the Test Message.

Any idea?

Working now after a few more failed attempts.

 

I turned off the VPN and able to set up and send and receive mail.  But I can still send and receive with the VPN back on!

Hard to be sure but I quite often see that OUTLOOK is failing to connect to the BTINTERNET server.  I turn off VPN and it connects OK but I can then turn VPN back on and it still connects.

The issue would then seem to be the VPN. It depends where in the world your VPN wants to connect (unless you do specify a country). There have been many reports of email access problems from various places around the world.

It is the Norton VPN and normally set to the UK.

Now that I have BTINTERNET working on Outlook again, I see a failure to log on each morning soon after switching on the laptop.  I turn off the VPN and all is OK.
