I don't want to use BTY Mail Beta - help

Go to solution

Morning forum fans

The 'normal' BTY failed to load correctly this morning so had to use Mail Classic, which loaded fine

However, there appears to be no way of going back to the 'normal' one.

The only option is to use/try the new Mail Beta, which I don't want to

Here's the screenie of the Beta and the links (in order)

http://www.btyahoo.com/btyterms

http://www2.bt.com/btPortal/application?pageid=pan_privacy_policy&siteArea=pan

http://info.yahoo.com/privacy/

How can get back to the normal one?

TIA

Without looking too deeply, I would hazard a guess that the webserver with that screenshot sets a cookie.

I would try removing all cookies from your browser (or trying an alternate browser if that's too grating). After you have done either of those, then see if you can get back to Mail Classic by saying "No thanks" in your screenshot.

If you find that using an alternative browser gives you Mail classic, then you could remove individual cookies from your usual browser based on them containing Yahoo in the sitename.

Hope this helps.

Hi tommy and thanks for replying

Clicking the no thanks does drop back to classic, yet I'm after the one thats been in use for some time - premium.

I'm using FF4 with various blockersSmiley Wink but I'll see whats trying to 'happen'....

Yet like a plank, I've since clicked accept and am currently navigating around the beta version. If I don't like it and the previous user opt out settings have not been retained or I can't go back, I'll drop BTY altogether

Hello DS,

If the cookies gives you no joy, then possibly to get back to classic (not premium sadly):

http://uk.mg.bt.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?script=no

Could be worth having a play with the optout options. I got this link because I use FF/Ubuntu/No flash, so am unsupported for BTYahoo's latest and greatest. It's no skin off my nose.

I'm a bit suprised at a Forum Guru [ and considering your previous postings ] using the BTYahoo portal - don't you just forward all BT email to somewhere sensible or use IMAP & SMTP ? Smiley Wink

Cheers tommy

the link does exactly that - back to classicSmiley Wink

It does appear that some user changes were not carried over.....Smiley Surprised

I've always considered using IMAP etc, but tend to leave BT products and services almost as they would be when they're first used/installed - mainly to spot things like this.

Though I do use a lot of chuck away Gmail ones - for this that and the otherSmiley Wink - at least they're not connected to BT or YahooSmiley Happy

Re: I don't want to use BTY Mail Beta - help

I've read some recent threads regarding BTY falling over earlier, but since 19:07 I was trying to attach a file for the benefit of the Hub Technical Project Manager (ongoing saga). Clicking the attach button did nothing for the first few hours, then as if by magic it allowed me to select the file, but it would attach!!

Anyway, it worked at 23:35 - not impressed to say the least

maybe a mod could look in to this, to make sure BTY is definitely fixed?

Re: I don't want to use BTY Mail Beta - help

Hi,

you could try this.

Log into mail and then switch to the following url.

http://uk.mg.bt.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?.partner=bt-1&.gx=1&.rand=camo6ojn1jumo

I got this from one of my accounts that is still on all-new-mail.

For me, this switches my mail from either the Beta or Classic to the (former) All-New-Mail

Hope this works for you.

Re: I don't want to use BTY Mail Beta - help

That's great.

A little more research, here is a complete and simplified answer.

All-new-mail
http://uk.mg.bt.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch

Classic mail
http://uk.mc870.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome

New Beta
http://uk.mg.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch

They have other parameters on the end such as ?partner=bt-1 and rand=...., but this doesn't seem to make any difference.

Even better news, this seems to save it to your profile so you don't have to do this next time you log in.
