I want to cancel BT tv and BT sport, as son has moved to his own flat. Contract runs to next July but I'll still save money even after paying the cancellation charge. The (snooty) person I spoke to said I would have to return my youview box, or be charged as it was still in contract. I've had this box for about five years. Is it still in contract?

Hi @jennifer328,
It's good to see you back on the Community and thank you for posting. I'm sorry you're thinking about canceling your BT TV service.
If you have your BT TV box for 5 years and you cancel the service now you wouldn't be charged a fee. The cost of the equipment would have been covered in your first contract when you took out BT TV for the first time. The only cancelation charge that would apply would be for the remaining contact.
Thanks

Thankyou very much for your reply. I don't use sport and none of the BT programmes for tv, so that's why. The advisor was pretty sneery, not at all customer friendly.
Hi @jennifer328,
That's disappointing to hear and I'm sorry the persons you spoke to didn't deliver the level of service you would expect from BT. If you need help get that canceled I'd be able to help you with this.
I have sent you a private message with instructions on how to contact me. You can access your messages via the envelope icon at the top right of the screen, or click on this link, Private messages
