I have noticed that in relation to some disconnection issues, it is sometimes recommended that the lease time be extended from the default of one day to the maximum of 21 days. I can see the possible advantage in that, but is there a downside? If there is no downside, why is 21 days not the default?
If you have a lot of different devices connecting over that 21 day period, the home hub could run out of IP addresses.
Thank you for replying so quickly. In my particular case, it would typically be up to eight devices trying to connect, and I cannot think that it would ever be more than 12 even when guests come and try to use the network. On that basis, the HomeHub couldn't run out of addresses could it? If I have understood things correctly (which is doubtful) there are about 150 possible addresses. If that is the case would it be sensible for me to change the lease time to 21 days as I do have occasional dropped connection issues, especially with a BT Wi-fi hotspot kit?
No problem with changing to 21days.
