IP Profile changed from 7Mbps down to 2Mbps

Not sure what's going on but my IP Profile has changed overnight. It was slightly over 7Mbs but has dropped to 2Mbps. I have contacted BT about it but am getting nowhere. Can someone here help please, as far as I can see the profile needs resetting by BT were less than helpful when I asked for them to do this?

wow 3db attenuation - do you live in or on top of the exchangeSmiley Wink

 

connection time is only 23min have you been resetting trying to get profile back or have you had problems with the router dropping connection?

 

your profile should recover automatically provided you can maintain connection 24/7 for 3/5 days maybe even sooner

 

worst thing you can do is reset your router a few times in a short space of time

Hi, yes I live near the exchange. I have been putting it off at night but I've been doing that since I've had it and its never caused any issues. I did disconnect today before taking the screen shot though as Bt told me to change the micro filter but that had no effect.

well you now need to keep it connected 24/7 for the 3/5 days and profile should return to normal automatically.  if you get to 3+ days and still 2000 then come back as you may need help from mods.  once you get profile back to normal you can go back to switching off at night

Hi it's been a few days now and I'm still in the same boat IP profile is still 2Mb.  I can see no issues withthe router, I have no idea what the problem is now, stats below.  The router has been left on since Thursday.

Hi I suggest you contact the forum mods they should be able to get this reset for for you this is a link to them

they normally reply by email or phone directly to you within 3 working days

They are a UK based BT specialist team who have a good record at getting problems solved

your profile is stusck and as you have 3+ days connected then contact the mods who will fix it

 

contact mods



can take up to 3 working days for mods to contact you   may be near 5 days due to a backlog

Hi many thanks for your help. It's 8.30AM 9 May, unfortunately nothing seems to have changed since you reset my IP yesterday so far, so my IP profile is still 2Mbps. My router has been left on since last Thursday and it seems ok. Router stats and speed test results from today below. I have also done everything asked by BT since last Thursday that is I have changed the filter for a new one, and tried using cable connection. I have tried phoning BT since but I was left on hold, last Friday and yesterday for 18 minutes.

 

I have also noticed that my Internet usage seems to have trebled from what is the norm which for me is around 7GB per month. I have used 4GB already this month. I have no wireless security issues and have changed my password.  I don't know if this ties in?
