IP Profile reset after Openreach visit.

I have been having some line problems over the last 2 months that may now be fully resolved but I don't seem to be able to reach the heady heights of a 1Meg broadband profile. It seems the line sticks firmly to .75Meg even when I have sync at 1120 and historically I can achieve 1Meg with occasional set backs to .75Meg. I evidence of being continuously connected from 15th - 18th July and currently too have a downloand synch of 1120Kbps but nothing seems to move me up from .75 to 1Meg. My line attenuation is 63.5 so I am making best efforts to squeeze out a usable broadband service. I will reference the post to see if the Mods can organise an IP profile check/reset.

Re: IP Profile reset after Openreach visit.

Also your ip profile is controlled by your connection speed not the other way round from your post your ip profile looks to be in the correct area but the hub stats and full BT speed test will help us confirm this tthen if needed the mods can be contacted

This is the address for the speed test speedtester.bt.com. The full test please not the beta version

Re: IP Profile reset after Openreach visit.

hi your IP profile is correct for your connection speed there is nothing to reset the only way to get an increase of profile is if your connection speed increases

Re: IP Profile reset after Openreach visit.

your profile is correct for your connection speed and to get a 1mb profile you need a connection speed of at least 1152.

you are on a long line as router showing 63.5 which is as high as most show so your true attenuation may well be a lot higher.

are you connected to the master or test socket?  do you have other extension sockets in other rooms?

Re: IP Profile reset after Openreach visit.

Thanks for both replies.

I am grateful for the information that I need a connection of 1152 or higher for a chance to improve to a 1meg speed.

I am using the master socket with the special built in ADSL filter that excludes extensions.

Re: IP Profile reset after Openreach visit.

not a lot more you can do apart from consider a bt businees router 2700hgv which has a good reputation of improving/holding connection on longer lines.  they can be obtained from well known auction site not expensive but need to make sure new and sealed.

search the forum for business router 2700hgv and you will see others comments
