IP Profile stuck at 2000kbps - used to be higher!

Go to solution

Hi

Back in July I lost my broadband connection for 5 days. After 3 phone calls to the help desk I was told an engineer would be sent although I was pretty sure that the problem was not in my house. The night before the engineer was to visit, the red light on my HomeHub 2 changed from red to blue and I was back in business. The engineer arrived the following morning and checked everything and could find no problem.

My problem is now is that my IP profile is stuck at 2000 Kbps.

I have done everything I can to try and improve the speed:

1 – Connect directly to main phone socket.

Not tried as everything worked before and the extension is a BT extension anyway.

2 – Changed all my Micro filters

3 – Installed a Broadband Accelerator

Here are the BT Speed test results – Can anyone advise if there is something wrong with the figures below?

Download speed achieved during the test was - 1813 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps

BT found that my IP rating was showing correctly in one system but only as 2000kbps in another.  I am now getting 6379 download speed which I am happy with.

Hi

June 2012 and the IP profile has reverted back to 2 Mbps - for the last 8 months I was getting between 6 & 8 Mbps download speeds after the configuration error was corrected.  Please can you check the setup once more?

Speed test from Friday 22/6/2012 at about 21:25

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.73 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps

Many thanks

Paul Ellmer
