IP profile stuck - again

Go to solution

Hi,

I have checked my broadband speed and noticed my ip profile has been lowered again and is currently at 0.5mbps. I reported a similar issue on the 3rd April 2012 which was resolved quickly with an ip profile being reset manuallly. This current slowdown occurred approx. 6 days ago and I have waited for the ip profile to reset itself (the 72 hour wait) but to no avail. Please see following test results and home hub stats.:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.45 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :0.67 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.5 Mbps

ADSL line status
Connection Information
Line state Connected
Connection time 6 days, 21:00:07
Downstream 672 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps

ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI 0/38
Type PPPoA
Modulation G.992.1 Annex A
Latency type Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up) 27.2 dB / 15.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 50.3 dB / 29.0 dB
Output power (Down/Up) 1.3 dBm / 1.3 dBm
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Down/Up) 20 / 15
CRC Errors (Down/Up) 1 / 43
HEC Errors (Down/Up) 0 / 35
Error Seconds (Local/Remote) 1 / 17

I have the home hub plugged directly into the test socket with no other extensions used. (The lowering of my ip profile appeared to coincide with a BT van visiting the telegraph pole my extension is taken from - home hub disconnected around the same time.)

I'd be grateful if someone could do a reset for me to resolve this - previous speeds were decent at around 2mbps.

the problem is not actually your low profile which is correct for your current connection speed.  the problem is your connection speed is far to low and your noise margin far to high.  your profile is a function of your connection speed not the other way round

with your good connection time I would contact the mods and het you noise margin reset to 6db which will increase your connection speed which will then give a higher profile

contact mods

can take up to 3 working days for mods to contact you

I contacted the mods and they have now reset the noise margin which is now at 6.4 dB / 15.0 dB. Connection speed and ip profile back to where it should be. With thanks.
