Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

Recently we have suffered a lot of disconnections which has lead to a massive speed drop.

When the engineer installed he said we were so close to the cabinet we should get amazing speeds which we always have (79/19)

cheers

Re: Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

A lot of disconnections would cause DLM to step in and attempt to stablise your line. As long as the line remains stable your speed should creep back up.

Try a quiet line test with a corded phone, 17070 option 2. Any noise report as a line fault not a broadband one.

You can pick one up for about £5 from a well known catalogue shop.

Re: Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

Did you try a phone to see if there was any noise on the line?

Try connecting things up as shown below, and see if the connection speed improves.

Also, make sure your internal wiring is correct.

Re: Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

Something definitely isn't right. The max attainable speed is less than half the minimum expected speed.

Carry out the test socket check and we'll take it from there.

Re: Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

I've got one of the open reach sockets that doesn't need a filter and I don't have anot extension.

I'll have to go buy a phone by the looks of it

Re: Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

Bought a phone today and either the phone is a dud or the line is dead?

Re: Infinity 2 constant disconnections and HUGE speed drop

I suspect you are only working on one wire, broadband will sometimes work on just one but the phone needs both wires. If the phone is dead at the test socket you need an engineer visit.
