Have contacted BT support and filled in the little form but haven't really heard back, so thought I'd post a thread here as I'd love to hear other peoples experiences as well.
So long story short, BT Infinity 2 was the best deal and BT website seemed confident we would get 51.5MB downspeed. Today is the 10th day and we're still not getting anything above 28-32MB down. Not very impressed, I have to say.
Solved! Go to Solution.
IP Profile for your line is - 33.11 Mbps
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
I am going to assume this can be changed, as a promise of 51.5MB when my line apparently cannot even get above 33.11 seems like a huge fat porkie-pie
why would they give an estimate 20mb above what i could get?
http://i.imgur.com/jpIE3a5.png - i can't see any 'up to' here. and even if it did, surely that is still a lie if the maximum is 33!
even on BTs own speedchecker, http://i.imgur.com/Ai6332o.png it says that this speed is poor and could be improved.
[edited out, i now know what an ip profile is :)]
There is an error for sure, it should not be showing up orange (http://i.imgur.com/Ai6332o.png) on the BT test site and should show all green!. Have you got anything running in the back ground while you are testing like BT Vision or P2P or Consoles, IPads, IPhones, DS3 etc.. cause they will affect your results and are you testing by ethernet to your Home Hub?. If you have tried this, reset your Openreach box for 15 seconds and turn off for 2 mins and turn back on again and your HH(do not reset your HH, just the white openreach box), just turn them on and off for about 2 mins and see if that makes a difference. Make sure when you do a reset, turn everything off, shutdown laptops, Vision, everything that connects to your internet then turn back on when done.
Yep, been testing with my pc in the GigE port. I've turned the Wifi off on the Home Hub and I'll try your suggestions, thanks.
Held reset until the lights went off on Openreach modem, unplugged it. Restarted HomeHub. Plugged Openreach modem in 2 minutes later. Ran speedtest, certainly no other programmes running in the back or foreground.
