We're about to have a new security alarm system installed in the house. The new system will need to be hooked up to the telephone line, and the technician has confirmed that he'll be hard-wiring it into the existing line. Is there anything we should be aware of or any precautions to take in order to protect our Infinity connection? We weren't entirely happy when we heard that the new system would need to be setup like this, as we didn't want to risk disconnections or any possible line interference from the new system. So if anyone can offer advice and/or reassurance we'd be very grateful.
It will need to be wired from the "phone" side of the Infinity master socket, otherwise it will interfere with your connection.
The bottom section of the socket is removable, and has terrminals on the back, to connect alarms or extensions.
Here is a diagram showing how things should be connected. It would connect at the same point that an extension socket would.
Thanks Keith! That's a huge relief. We already have 3 other extensions in the house, one of which has a desk phone which has been working perfectly with the Infinity setup. So I guess the technician will simply hook up to one of these extensions.
Cheers for your help!
If the extensions do not have any filters connected to them, then your installation is correct, as all the filtering is provided by the Openreach NTE.
