Infinity connection gone wrong 2hrs. later after ordering the new HH4?.

Hi,

I am having serious issues at the moment. I ordererd the new HH4 about 4.30p.m. today and now it seems my Infinity connection has gone mad!. I have tried to restart my equipment a few times but no difference, also every time I restart the equipment it gives me an unusual IP address that starts with 109. instead of the 86., it normally gives but I cannot get it back. I have never had issues like this until now. Has it got something to do with ordering the new Home Hub 4 which arrives this Thursday?:-

not related to the new hub have you tried a single modem restart then one hub restart that may solve the IP Address

Re: Infinity connection gone wrong 2hrs. later after ordering the new HH4?.

Hi John, thanks for the reply,

I have done a restart on the Openreach box (hold in for 5 seconds), turn on and off and done a normal retstart on the HH3 as well (several times). The new IP addresses are all over the place and I think this is the problem, it never comes up with 86. anymore, it always now either 109., 81., 80., and so on. 😞 Getting very frustrating!. Everything was fine I did a recent check before ordering the HH4 but after about a couple of hrs., so on ordering the new HH4, it started doing it.

Why does it matter what the IP address begins with, 109, 81, 80, 86 ?

Re: Infinity connection gone wrong 2hrs. later after ordering the new HH4?.

Just done a restart and its back to normal now all green on disagnostic check, the IP now starts with 81., but works OK!. Weird, something must of been a foot!. 🙂

@legitimise_sailing. If your IP address does not start with 86., it means there is a problem somewhere down the line. Usually when mine starts with anything other than 86.,in my area code, it gives me a problem with my Infinity connection. I dont know why?, but it does!. 😉

My IP address often starts 86. and often not. I haven't noticed any problems when it isn't. (Currently 31.)

it does not matter what the ip address starts with, they are all blocks of ips that are assigned to bt to use, i sometimes get an 86 , other times 31 or 109, it makes no difference
