Infinity connection halved.

Hey guys. Doesn't look like i'm the only one to experience drops recently.

I'm sent BT an email but not holding out much hope of hearing anything good from them.

Basically, before this week i was getting constant speeds of 8.8mb a sec (around a 60mb connection apparently).

Now, i'm suddenly getting 3.0mb a sec, and Speedtest.net (and BT's speed test) say i'm on a 25mb connection - never anything more.

It's really doing my head in to be honest.

I'm been with Infinity for about 3 months, and on the 'upgrade' for around a month. So well after the 'settling down' period.

Anyone had issue similar and got it fixed?

Re: Infinity connection halved.

Can you run the fttc test @ http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ and copy and paste them here.

Are you wired or wireless when speed testing?

8.8Megabytes/s equates to just over 70megabits/s

Re: Infinity connection halved.

I'm testing it on a wired connection.

I've done the speed test:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 25.02 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12 Mbps-26.52 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 26.52 Mbps

It says my max speed is 26mb!! That's a load of garbage seeing as i used to get near 70mb!!! What the...?!

Re: Infinity connection halved.

Raise a fault as there obviously is a problem.

Re: Infinity connection halved.

I've sent an email from their 'Speed Issue' contact page.

Is this the best way, or phone them? Didn't have a great experience last time i called support...

Re: Infinity connection halved.

According to the online support, there is a EPP508 fault on the line. This is being raised with higher up support and should be sorted with 24-48 hours.

Rather encouraging i guess? At leas thtye recognised something is wrong?

Encouraging? See for yourself:

Re: Infinity connection halved.

Where have you found that info?

Edit: Ah, googled it. Hmm

Re: Infinity connection halved.

You need an engineer visit.

EPP (end user poor performance) is poor throughput. While you do have poor throughput, it's as a result of a low connection rate. I suspect a fault on the cable from the cabinet.

Re: Infinity connection halved.

I'll see what comes of this fault they've raised.

Oddly, this morning my speeds have gone up to 36mb. Now downloading at 4.4mb. Which, is what my speeds were before i 'upgraded' my infinity the other month.

It's all a bit weird. Not going to jump on the 'BT are awful' bandwagon though, as apart from this dip i've been really happy. It is a bit disappointing though.
