Infinity line speed drop after line fault corrected

A few weeks ago, we had a line fault which got fixed, but I noticed that one of the Infinity lines has also dropped in speed.

 

I'm fairly certain all the line faults have been fixed (it seems there were several caused by a contractor rumminging around in an underground junction box), but one of the two Infinity lines seems to have got stuck at a 30ms ping (15ms normal) and 65Mbs measured download (75Mbs normal).

 

Is it possible to force a line reset or is Infinity, once broken by something, forever broken?

If the fault has been fixed, then DLM will raise the speed automatically over the following 10 days or so.

Yes, DLM controls all that

 

Can you post your helpdesk data from the HH5 please? These are in Troubleshooting/Helpdesk on the web interface at http://192.168.1.254 or http://bthomehub.home

Unfortunately, I have the ECI modems which don't give out line stats (at least not with a major hack) along with the Business Hub 3's (which were both retired as they crash regularly and I wanted to enable load balancing).

The stats I'm posting are actual maximum throughout rates seen (before and after) and the time to the first hop after the router from traceroute.

Ok, so I've taken two Huawei modems used at my previous install and enabled CLI access to get to the line stats:

 

# xdslcmd info --state [This is the line that is working normally]

xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status

Status: Showtime

Retrain Reason: 0

Last initialization procedure status: 0

Max: Upstream rate = 26978 Kbps, Downstream rate = 83896 Kbps

Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps, Downstream rate = 79987 Kbps

 

 

# xdslcmd info --state [This is the line that is not]

xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status

Status: Showtime

Retrain Reason: 0

Last initialization procedure status: 0

Max: Upstream rate = 32859 Kbps, Downstream rate = 86960 Kbps

Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps, Downstream rate = 70291 Kbps

 

Strangely, before the line fault both showed the same max upstream and downstream rates (well, within a couple of k). Now the slower line is showing the better attainable speeds.

I think that anomaly with the attainable speeds is due to interleaving being applied

I'm not sure that interleaving makes a difference to the reported maximum speeds... I was always able to get a max attainable rate of 86Mbits on both lines before the fault, which means the slower line has the same max attainable rate as before interleaving was applied, just now with a lower sync speed (some 16Mbs under the max attainable).

Then why has the max attainable fallen on the line working normally?

The interleave remains the same as before on that line, so I can't see that forcing the max attainable down.

 

My suspicion is that either the damage or the repairs has had some impact on that line too, but not enough to impact the the actual line speed (as the max attainable is still above the max BT provide).
