Infinity speed drops

Hello all, have not had to post here regarding a fault in a long while.

Lately i have noticed my speed drop from around 74.9mbs DL and 17mb ul, to 41mb DL and 11mb upload.

Now i know it is hardly a noticeable drop in speed, but my ping in online games has risen from around 18 on uk/european servers, and 80 on atlantic servers, to around 30-35 in uk, and 100+ atlantic.

I am posting here before calling and poking at customer services for some answers, as i am opaying for the best package and receiving under hald of what i should get.

Thankyou.

Re: Infinity speed drops

Just an update, Ringing out, or recieving a call seems to disconect the line and there is so much static ion the line.. I am assuming my noise margin is through the roof?

Re: Infinity speed drops

If you have a noisy line report it as a phone fault. The noise will undoubtedly be causing issues with the broadband. You could try doing a quiet line test 17070 etc. If you search the forums you should be able find out some more information. I always suggest doing the online line test / fault report first. If that comes back no fault then call BT faults and hopefully they will hear the noise.

One last point make sure that all internal cabling is disconnected from the master socket whilst doing the test. Just to make sure it's not an extension on your side causing the problem.

Let us know how you get on.

Quiet line test 17070

Line fault 151 Don't mention Infinity or broadband, you want a line fault rectifying.

Try https://www.bt.com/consumerFaultTracking/public/faults/reporting.do?pageId=21 Just enter your phone number and click on the button or what pippincp says. Remember if you do call 151 do not mention anything about broadband if the subject can be avoided.
