Installation date 2 months away?!

I originally ordered my BT full fibre package on the 19th November and they said the installation date was going to be on the 24th December, which was not ideal... so I asked if it could be brought forward. I was told they couldn't do anything until the order had been confirmed.

Today is the 2nd of December and finally the order has been confirmed... but now I am being told that I have to wait until the 18th January!

What happened to the original date of 24th December? And is it usual to have to wait SO long for an installation?

Also, they have made no mention in the email of paying my Sky cancellation charges, is this still available?

I would try and ring them, but last time I was on the phone for 1 hour and 32 minutes...
