Intermittent failure to connect when using Worldpay terminal

My village cricket club has a bar with a Worldpay credit card terminal. Most of the time it is fine but on some days it regularly has three attempts to connect and then fails, even when the card terminal handset is placed on the base station to virtually eliminate Bluetooth connection issues between the handset and the base station.  Starting the transaction again usually works. The base station uses a five foot internet cable to connect to the router via a multiport switch. The BT router connects to the BT incoming telephone line box using about 3 metres of cable with RJ12 connectors. After leaving the pavilion the BT telephone line uses old fashioned copper cable for about half a mile until it reaches the BT box where the superfast fibre from the nearest exchange terminates.

Behind the pavilion is a very tall mast for various transmitters which is known to generate noise on the line. I have this week relocated the router by having the BT box extended to a more convenient shelf, replaced the three metre RJ12 cable with a one metre cable and plugged the internet cable directly into a spare port on the router, bypassing the multiport switch. Will these actions solve our intermittent problem?
