Intermittent frequent disconnections and phone call disconnects broadband

Grateful for help: I have a Home Hub 5 and Inifinity 2. Master socket with separate broadband socket above phone socket and no extensions 

While doing a quiet line test following frequent disconnections I noticed a crackle and that putting the phone down caused the boradband to disconnect. Don't normally use the phone. Therefore raised a log and an engineer called. They did an "extensive test" at the master socket but found no fault. At that time the phone did not disconnect the broadband either. I said there must be a reason for the disconnects so they did a test at the connection on the exterior wall and then a test again at the master socket. Then they said they could see lots of "forward errors" so concluded the issue was with the cable from the exterior wall to the master socket. This cable has now been replaced. The connecction was then stable for a couple of days at 35 Mbps but now drops frequently again a phone call disconnects broadband. This might be when the speed is low (8 to 9 Mbps). after a phone call the connection is usually a higher speed e.g 32 to 35 Mbps.
