Internet constantly disconnecting/going to identifying/limited

I have wireless internet and every 5 minutes or so it will disconnect and switch to "limited" or "identifying" and sometimes won't connect at all. The other laptop users in my house who use the exact same internet hub do not experience this problem. I've tried resetting the hub/laptop, this has no effect.

I have Windows 8, my laptop is a Compaq CQ58. I have a BT homehub.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Internet constantly disconnecting/going to identifying/limited

Could be loads of stuff, the most obvious are:

Dodgy wireless drivers (try reinstalling them)

rubbish wireless card in the laptop (likely)

Interference/Poor signal

Not picking up default gateway in DHCPOFFER (unlikely, but some NICs ignore DHCP options sometimes...try a route print and check gateway)

Ok, where do I proceed from here? I'm really not good with technology and I don't know what specific action to take...

By the way my specific laptop brand is Compaq c0w37ea#abu

Which Homehub do you have?

Have you tried a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This can often sort out wireless problems.

Thank you, but annoyingly the problem still persists.
