Internet failing :(

I have had the BT Home Hub 4 for quite some time now and it has worked fine and, although being a bit slow, I have had no problems with my internet.

But recently I have been experiencing a problem where my internet dies and doesn't come back on again for a few minuets. The first thing I tried was to reset the box and this sorted the problem for a while but it came back. Now I have no internet at all (I am writing this on my phone) but all the lights are green/blue and there are no visible problems with my wiring.

If anyone can help me with this I will be forever thankfull as I have no idea what is wrong.

Re: Internet failing :(

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).

Are re you using wired or wireless connection?

are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: Internet failing :(

The last thing the logs say is: PPP IPCP Receive Configuration ACK. (No idea)

There is a hum when I ring the quietline.

I am using a wired connection but it runs through broadband extender flex's. Have tried reconnecting these and they both are green but still no internet.

My hub is connected through a NGA ECI-CPE-MODEMS TYPE 1B. (again, no idea.) And thats connected directly to the master socket.

Hope this gives you a clue. 🙂
