Re: Internittent crackling on phone line

It belongs to Openreach, but I would not tell them that you touched it Smiley Wink

They will only replace it if its causing a fault, or is a hazard to others.

Re: Internittent crackling on phone line Keith

I think it may be obvious to them as I have had to strip the wires to rejoin them together in order to get the phone working again.

Unless they visit, they will not notice. I would be inclined to leave things alone.

Re: Internittent crackling on phone line

It is not a very good reliable joint and there seems to be a problem with other wires as it is intermitent.

Re: Internittent crackling on phone line

Amazingly I reported it and a BT man came out and fitted a new box within hours.  The old prehistoric junction box had been there since the 60's so he stripped back the wires and fitted a new box.

Thanks for all of the advice.

Well you are very lucky, perhaps there were other people affected as well.
