Re: Introducing BT Plus!

Proper beta testing and vetting would improve their communication markedly.

I used to work for BT years ago and the in-joke then was that internal comminications were, shall we say, not very good for a communications company. It would appear there has been little improvement in the years since I left.

Re: Introducing BT Plus!

 @Andy005

Obviously I can not talk on behalf of BT, but beta testing was done. It does seem however, and I agree totally that as usual the customer service side have given conflicting information to customers. But there are ways to clarify the product terms.

I agree the edits on the smaller print should be cleaned up, but to be fair you could just take them to the ASA if they revoked the price freeze claim.

For those who are not aware, when you have difficulty with a product, customer service issue or even conflicting information you should always first raise it with the online chat team. They may not always give you the answers or resolve the issues but they collate the data which is then often passed back to the product or trial teams. The forums are a great place to get unofficial help, the community leaders have a great knowledge and often you will find people who have been included in trials or have experience on products that can help and then you have the moderation team who help both on and offline.

In this isntance @Andy005 if @SeanD has pointed out that a product includes a price freeze, then he speaks on behalf of BT as one of the few employees on the community. Statements made by Sean are not just made up, they will have been checked by the product teams.  If you need clarification, speak to the online chat team who can confirm what is or is not included and it will be recorded on your account.  BT would have nothing to gain by creating a product that is, and will evolve as time goes on and then evoke on of the USP's of the product.

Re: Introducing BT Plus!

I wasn't suggesting that anyone had made anything up @Dean007, I was merely quoting what the BT Plus web page said (We may change any prices ...), it's ambiguous.

If businesses had better customer support then customers would be more likely to go to them direct rather than use forums such as these, which are essentially here to reduce customer support costs.

Re: Introducing BT Plus!

I'm still not sure what I get from joining up - I am allowed to pay £3 a month more than I am paying now to avert a possible price increase?

In my case it was worthwhile but perhaps I was just one of the lucky ones who spoke to the right person on the right day, if you're undecided then I would suggest you ring 0800 800 150 and see if you can negotiate a deal.

I also worked out that it would cost me £3 a month more but in the end I saved much more than that; OK my speed is down from 72Mb to 69 but I can live with that for the amount I saved.

Re: Introducing BT Plus!

I already have a discount of £16.50 a month, agreed just under two months ago.

That's the way I looked at it.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. At the end of the day you're just making an enquiry, you don't have to commit.

Re: Introducing BT Plus!

I just enquired about BT plus and they said £54.99 a month plus I would lose my discount on my TV and mobile thus making a grand total of £89.99. No thank you I will stick with what I have now.

You said it would cost you £3 a month more but in the end you saved much more, in what wya and how?

When I rang them I would end up paying £8 a month more, £6 if I move my mobilr Sim to BT. I'm not sure paying this is worth it and BT shouldn't be asking customers to pay more to guarantee a service they should be providing anyway.
