On the call he said they agreed with me on the discount/promotion carrying forward as I described but they couldn't see it to apply it, so if I did it online it would work. It hasn't.
This is getting stranger by the minute.
I know the Indian call centres can't see account information but the UK ones certainly can. I just gave the lady I spoke to my account number and she told me what services I had and how much I was paying for them. I came off the phone well pleased with my experierance and find it amazing that yourself and others should have such a contrasting one.
Are you sure the person you spoke to was in the UK?

Yep.
So to triple check as I wasn't getting anywhere on chat I called the 0800 800 150 number again and spoke to Ben in Connections who has done some digging and confirmed that my reading of the text is correct. So for my deal/service this means:
He suspects that the ordering system just sees the upgrade as a re-contract and my carried forward discount/deal will not show until the order is complete and the first bill produced.
If it doesn't get applied he has left all the notes and validated the above with his manager, so I can just call them at that point fix it.
He also said the BT Plus team are inundated at the moment so bare with them if trying to get through and he has fed back my particular concerns about the carried forward discount not showing on the new order confirmation.
I hope the rest of you can resolve your particular issues.
- By upgrading I am signing up for a minimum term of 18 months at £39.99
- The discount I had on my original broadband deal will be applied to the above for the length of the original contract (16 months)
- For the final 2 months I will pay £39.99
- From month 19 I pay whatever the full price is at that point or recontract/negotiate
Just being pedantic here, for bullet 2 is the current discount applied to the £39.99 or do you continue to pay the current discounted price. The difference between those 2 figures is significant.

My current discount will be applied to the £39.99.
Which is fine for me as my current package price is £41.99 minus the discount.
It's a double discount in effect because the £39.99 is already £19 less than the list price of £58.99, which is why I was so desperate to confirm the wording was correct.
I guess I lucked out a bit on this one only having recently joined BT!
So are you saying you will get 16 months at £22.99, and then 2 months at £39.99? If so, well done!!!

Not far off.
My current broadband discount is £12 per month, so 16 months at £27.99, then the 2 months at £39.99.
Plus the cost of TV/Mobiles where nothing changes apart from the double data, which is already active even though the broadband changes don't apply until next Tuesday.
Wow, that's amazing. Time to get signed up I think, although I will only get the double discount until November.
I've taken the plunge and ordered online, as there should be few complications. The Mobile data is already doubled, to a starting figure. I'll probably increase it soon: one thing at a time.
There should'nt be too much to go wrong.
There's another bye-product in the BT Plus:- you are given an estimated download speed, and BT will provide one engineer visit to try to obtain that speed. (mine falls short by 4 mbps on Superfast - or Infinity2 in old money - at the moment). That's the bare minimum - it should be much more.
We can always hope!
Also just taken the plunge
Just had the email asking me to be one of the first to upgrade Superfast Fibre Plus . Is there a speed increase when upgrading?
At present I am slap bang in the middle of 2 cabinets and I currently am getting on average 38mb, sometimes on certain ip addresses I can get 45mb which doesn't make sense to me.
