Re: Introducing Complete Wi-Fi from BT

hi Stuart - thank you for your reply.  In one room, I get one bar of wi-fi on my phone, and therefore very slow internet - down from 65mbps to about 6mbs on a speedtest - but the test on the app says I have strong internet coverage in that room, therefore does not offer me the chance to go through diagnostics.  With complete wi-fi, I expect superfast broadband in every room - surely that is what I am paying for!  As you say, I know that I need all three discs to achieve this - but as I am told in some rooms I have "strong" coverage, I cannot take the necessary steps to order another disc. After much moaning on the phone I am told one more will be sent to me - although I cannot see any record of this on the app - and was told to get another I have to call again!

How quickly is the updated firmware rolling out as it hasn't hit my kit as yet

Re: Introducing Complete Wi-Fi from BT

Hi @Oemoore64 - we're rolling it out slowly at the moment - making sure it's perfect when it has to interact with the wide range of devices around all of your homes!  Our launch firmware has been really stable so far so we're not rushing it out as it's mainly minor tweaks and optimisations rather than step change features.

Cheers

Re: Introducing Complete Wi-Fi from BT

"New devices - When you take Complete Wi-Fi, we give you a Wi-Fi Disc and our new next generation Smart Hub."

Hi. I'm Interested in detail around this point. I have signed upto the Complete Wi-Fi and after agreeing, I was told that we do not in fact own the WiFi disc and it must be returned after service is ended, or pay £30. Can you tell me where this was explained during the website checkout process before purchasing?

It was disspaoiting to find that out, as the monthly cost seemed viable if we then owned the hardware afterwards.

Also - what's the difference between the black and white discs?

Kind regards,
n0deity

Re: Introducing Complete Wi-Fi from BT

If you have a look on BT's website advertising the package and go to "The Legal Stuff" under "Broadband" it has the following information about returning the disc.

https://www.bt.com/broadband/complete-wifi/

Complete Wi-Fi with Superfast Fibre products: 91% UK availability. Available to new Superfast Fibre customers. 18 month term. If you cancel Complete Wi-Fi you’ll need to return the Wi-Fi discs, or else you’ll be charged £30 per disc. When you take Complete Wi-Fi, you’ll be sent a Smart Hub2, if you cancel your broadband product within its minimum term, you’ll be charged up to £45 towards the cost of your Smart Hub2. For full terms see bt.com/legalstuff. Prices from month 19: Superfast Fibre Essential with Complete Wi-Fi: £44.49. Superfast Fibre with Complete Wi-Fi: £52.49 Superfast Fibre 2 with Complete Wi-Fi: £58.99.

Re: Introducing Complete Wi-Fi from BT

A general observation.

The Smart Hub2 rebooted / restarted itself after a 14 day period (plus half hour) today. This was the usual reset period for the HH6, which it has replaced.
The Hub was not connected to any devices at the time.
There was a post from the Devices Expert some time ago which implied "we hope that this does not occur while you are connected"
However it's encouraging to some that at least the connection is being monitored, and sync speeds being maintained  according to conditions.

Re: Introducing Complete Wi-Fi from BT

Thank you gg30340. I should read details fully. It says...

"If you cancel Complete Wi-Fi you’ll need to return the Wi-Fi discs, or else you’ll be charged £30 per disc."

Does this mean cancel within the 18 month term, and after that point they are customer owned. Or does it mean cancel at any point indefinitely?

You never own the discs, if you leave BT you have to return them, if you downgrade your broadband you have to return them.

This was brought up at the start of this thread. See the first few pages and BT's Expert's fudge on what it actually means. "We'll get Wi-Fi to every room - and that's what we're offering as service and is our commitment to our customers - App, Advisor Wi-Fi help & diagnostics, Video Call support and Engineers - that's why it's a service not rented".

Take out of that what you will but I call it BS.
